Casa del Papa- My “Act As If”

Sunset at Casa Del Papa
Sunset at Casa Del Papa

It has always been my dream to have a house by the ocean. I imagine that sitting by the ocean and hearing the crashing waves, will allow inspiration flow and I will finally write my books… I imagine walking with my husband, kids and dog on the beach front. I see us having barbecues and eating outside on the patio the wind in our hair and the taste of salt water on our lips- carried through the breeze! I imagine white sands, seashells and star fish… I see the endless ocean and stand in awe!

But you know that every dream has its time. I cannot afford a house by the ocean yet, so you know what? I go to Casa Del Papa, a little beach resort in Ouidah, Benin Republic. It is lovely, the service is great and it is right by the ocean. In the 5 to 10 days I stay there in a year- I “act as if”  and enjoy being there as though I truly own my house by the ocean… Enjoy the pictures with me and then share, which of your dreams are you “acting” into existence and how?

Aqua massage bed! 16 taps in what seems like an assault initially. It soon got very relaxing and I fell asleep under the torrents of water!

  1. Hello EHP! Your thoughts are as deep and philosophical as I have ever known them. It is more common to be told to ‘live your dream’. That is interesting, but living your dream into existence is much more. It presupposes a big picture, a steady gaze at it, a working towards it and an unflinching faith that guarantees a materialisation of that picture. I must say I need a pause to ask myself frankly if I’m living my dreams into existence. Thanks for sharing this.

  2. I wish I could add my personal Casa del Papa pictures to yours above.
Photos of crabs on the sea shore, dancing in their lounge, rowing in the kayak on the lake, my room where hot water runs 24/7, the lovely ‘blue’ pool, their sport facility under the lounge and even the tour around the town of Ouidah, especially my visit to the “Point of no return” & the “Sacred Forest”.

Ouidah is nature & nature is BEAUTIFUL! I’ll surely be there again. And when next I’m there, I’ll do well to “Act as if”. *wink*

    1. Please please Muna, you must do a guest blog post! I really love Casa del Papa and would love to see it through your eyes as well. It is a true treasure in the heart of West Africa and think it should be promoted and shared as much as possible. Plus I love the fact that year in year out, it is maintained and improved. Every time we go, there’s a new surprise. I’m glad you went and that you enjoyed it.

    2. Hello EHP! Been a minute.. Lol.. Muna just told me about Casa del Papa and Quidah.. Planning a vacation there already.. Yipee… I’m also looking for more vacation spots.. So..i’ll going to be snooping and reading all your posts! X

      1. Olla! Please please go there! You’ll love it! And for you young uns, if you go in a group, you’ll have more fun- kayaking, golf, water sports, the beach… Oh and please enjoy my blog! See The Gambia post and enjoy the one of the Burj Khalifa (that’s more educative though but very good). Thanks for stopping by- come back often! Big hug.

  3. *hug*.. I’m sure I”ll definitely have fun. I totally love your blog. Just read the post on project management principles and marriage. I have learnt lessons that I believe would benefit me in my relationship with other people. I”ll keep snooping and leaving comments. *BWG*
