“Lady, I’m your knight in shinning armour and I love you. You have made me what I am, and I am yours. My love, there’s so many ways I want to say I love you, let me hold you in my arms forever more. You have gone and made me such a fool, I’m so lost in your love”… Oh Kenny Rogers! Do you remember his song ‘Lady’?
As a child two types of songs were allowed in my house- country music and classical music. And I loved both! I loved how the chords in a classical piece seemed to actually tug at my heart-strings, and I loved the beautiful storytelling that you found in country music, I loved the vulnerability too, how they shared their hearts and said things you wouldn’t dare say out loud in song. So imagine my great joy, when I found myself at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. I was really like a kid in a candy store. Addictive candy. I ran, hopped, skipped, asked if I could take pictures (and was allowed to, on the condition that I didn’t use a flash). If I were to describe my 3 hours spent there in words, I will say “pure joy”. I loved it and wanted to share some of my favourite pictures and people with you.
I really enjoyed my time at the Country Music Hall of Fame, but I don’t want to share just pictures with you, enjoy some remarkable songs, relax and tap into your inner romantic, inner storyteller or even inner fighter with these links:
Lady by Kenny Rogers- here
Webb Pierce- Jailhouse Now
Gambler- Kenny Rogers-
You’re my best Friend- Don Williams- here
I will always love you- Dolly Parton (no, Whitney, didn’t sing the original version)- here
Okay, that’s just me sharing my love with you. I hope you enjoyed it and enjoy the songs. My current favourite country music artist is Wynn Varble- I love, love his sense of humour. If you find a CD of his buy it. You will laugh a lot. Thank you for allowing me share. Have a beautiful week and be awesome. Be present too- when you are at play, play hard but responsibly, when you are at work, work hard. Let excellence be your hallmark.
